Cannot get access to the application from remote host on the network

Hi -

I've created a virtual machine with Centos as an operating system. I installed klaros on it. Klaros installs Tomcat 6, which can act as a web server. I can see and use klaros, in Firefox, from the virtual machine it sits on. I need to be able to access the machine from other hosts on the network.

So, klaros is installed on 'klaros-VM'. I can access it through the web, on that machine, thru' http://localhost:18080/klaros-web/ and http://<ip_address>:18080/klaros-web/

I have another machine on the network 'bren-WM'. I need to be able to access 'klaros-VM' from this machine. When I enter http://<ip_address>:18080/klaros-web/ into my browser, I get:
Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at <ip-address>:18080.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

<ip-address> Is the IP address of the machine klaros sits on.

Can you tell me if this has something to do with the way klaros sets up Tomcat?

Many Thanks,
Brenda

I figured out what I needed to do. After downloading nmap, I discovered that the port 18080 was not open. I opened the Firewall settings and opened port 18080.

Thanks anyway,
Brenda
